Jodie Kidd

20/20 clinic

Like many people, Jodie Kidd was short-sighted. As a very keen racing driver, Jodie wanted the best possible vision when driving a high performance car at full throttle!

After her successful treatment, performed by Dr. Allamby at Focus Clinic, Jodie could see almost twice as well as 20/20 vision.

Jodie’s LASIK Procedure

Jodie has worn glasses and contact lenses since the age of 12. She underwent laser eye surgery for her short-sightedness because of her very active lifestyle; Jodie loves racing cars and horse-riding.

'Finally I can see clearly'

Jodie is delighted with the result of her treatment. Just 30 minutes after surgery, she could read the small 20/20 letters on the test chart.

One of the reasons Jodie chose Dr. Allamby as her surgeon is that our medical director has a 100% success rate for 20/20 vision for all common short-sighted prescriptions, including Jodie’s.

The procedure took just 10 minutes for both eyes and was performed under local anaesthesia using numbing drops. As a patient, Jodie was very cool and calm.

She said the intervention was painless. She sat down afterwards with a cup of tea and phoned her friends and family telling them how happy she was.

About Jodie Kidd

Jodie Kidd was born in 1978, the daughter of the businessman and former showjumper Johnny Kidd. She went to St Michael’s boarding school for girls in Sussex, England. She was introduced to the IMG agency after she was discovered in September 1994 at a Barbados Ball in London by photographer Terry O’Neill. She was just 16 years old at the time and was being booked by magazines within a week.

'Now, cooking at home, it's just another time when I think it really is amazing being able to see'

Being short-sighted

In common with over 10 million Britons, Jodie suffered from myopia, the medical term for short-sight, together with some mild astigmatism. It typically begins between ages of 6-18 and progresses often until the 20s. Once stable, most people are eligible for surgery. A comprehensive screening process is necessary to exclude patients who may be at higher risk.

As with Jodie, Dr. Allamby takes a very risk-averse approach and this has been rewarded with a 100% success rate for 20/20 vision for all typical short-sighted prescriptions.

After having LASIK advanced eye surgery at Focus, a technique pioneered in the UK by our founder and medical director Dr. David Allamby, Jodie no longer needs glasses for anything.
