Laser Eye Treatment
Laser eye treatment has become a very popular option for anyone who wears glasses or contact lenses. It has been available for more than 20 years and is the second most common eye procedure after cataract surgery. It is designed to change the shape of the cornea, the clear window at the very front of the eye. By changing the shape and the power of the cornea, light can be brought to a correct focus onto the retina at the back of the eye.
To correct short-sight, the cornea needs to be flatter and less powerful. In this case the laser energy is mainly applied around the centre of the cornea and feathered off towards the periphery. To correct long-sight, the cornea needs to be more curved and focusing light more powerfully. Laser energy is mainly applied in the periphery of the cornea, with the central area being made steeper.
Advanced excimer laser correction is now safer and more accurate than ever before – in the right hands. This is still surgery and it is very important that you choose the right clinic and a very experienced surgeon for procedure.

At Focus, we have achieved a 100% 20/20 vision success rate for all common myopic prescriptions. (What is 20/20 vision?). The keys to success are world-class surgical skill, highly advanced technology and not offering any inferior treatment options, as may be available elsewhere.
Every patient treated of Focus gets the most advanced procedure we can provide. We use the Ziemer and WaveLight lasers for the advanced Z-LASIK procedure, which is a highly sophisticated operation. We now target better than 20/20 vision routinely. We are in the process of an independent clinical audit of our results from the past 2 years.
