Laser eye surgery has advanced rapidly over the past ten years. Whilst people have been having safe, successful and accurate treatment for the past decade it is only really now that the results are so outstanding that at Focus we can boast a 100% figure for patients achieving 20/20 vision or greater with our LASIK procedure.
None of this would have been possible without hundreds of surgeons worldwide assisting the many research programs that have gone into fine tuning lasers, feeding back to the manufacturers and compiling reams of ‘nomograms’ (The mathematical way of linking results to the calibration of lasers).
At Focus our research goes beyond just laser eye surgery. Our NHS Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon Mr Ali Mearza is an active speaker at a host of academic conferences internationally. He writes articles and publishes papers on a host of eye related matters including of course refractive surgery. Part of his work is the analysis of the results we get from our Ziemer and Wavelight lasers. As each piece of equipment is analysed and fine tuned the results over time become more and more accurate. This combination of a constant attention to detail, researching and investing in the best equipment and listening to our patients needs have lead to our ‘100%’ results figure.
So research has been key to providing the best possible outcomes of laser eye treatment.
If you would like to discuss laser eye surgery with us or any of the equipment we use then please do give me a ring at the clinic.
