Nicola joined the Focus team in March 2015 as Clinic Coordinator. With previous experience working in a high-end opticians, she brings with her outstanding customer service and patient care. You will meet Nicola at reception when you first enter the clinic at each appointment.
Can you tell us more about your role at Focus Clinic?
My role at Focus is to start off our patients’ laser journey. When they arrive at their consultation, I meet with them and start the pre-screening process. This is a great way to build a rapport with the patient and have a better understanding of what they are looking for. Once they have been seen by the optometrist, I then meet with the patient again and have a chat with them to make sure they are happy with everything so far or if they have any further questions. I then go through stages of the treatment day – just so they have an idea of how things will go.
What part of your job do you like the most?
I am new to Focus Clinic, so apart from the amazing team that have been so nice and made me feel at home straight away, being part of a patient’s journey is probably the best. You see them from day 1 on their consultation through to their treatment day, with nerves and the overwhelming smiles on their faces after they leave the clinic.
If you had to choose 3 words to describe your work environment, what will they be?
Have you benefited from any eye surgery or have you introduced someone to that technology?
At the moment, I wouldn’t need to have laser eye surgery as my prescription is only small. A few of my family members wear glasses & I have already started to introduce them to the idea of having surgery.
According to you, what makes Focus Clinic unique?
I would say the things that make Focus unique are: we provide all patients with the same amazing treatment, the experienced team, optometrists & surgeons and how everyone is made to feel welcomed and special.
First impressions make a huge difference so I want every patient to know they have come to a truly special clinicNicola Barrett
