Patricia joined Focus in 2013 as a Clinic Technician with 3 years refractive experience. Patricia looks after our patients throughout their treatment experience, making them feel relaxed. Working closely with Becky, Patricia makes up the core of our skilled treatment team.
Can you tell us more about your role at Focus Clinic?
As a Laser Technician my job is to prepare the theatre room for the day’s treatment. I ensure that all areas are cleaned with the correct cleaning techniques and materials and are ready to be used. I also ensure all equipment and surgical tools are available for treatments.
My aim is to ensure the surgeons and scrub nurse have all the necessary equipment needed to carry out the treatment plan for each patient.
What part of your job do you like the most?
I love talking to the patients; I enjoy making them comfortable and relaxed. I am always thinking about how I can make the day more enjoyable for them. I really enjoy seeing how laser eye surgery can change people’s lives, especially those patients with really high prescriptions.
It may sound corny but people cry at the birth of their first child, similarly when people have their vision corrected, it produces a similar response. It’s like a mini miracle and I love it! I find it an honour to share that moment with our patients.
If you had to choose 3 words to describe your work environment, what would they be?
Have you benefited from any eye surgery or have you introduced someone to that technology?
I haven’t the treatment, as I don’t yet need it. If and when I do, I would never go anywhere else but Focus.
According to you, what makes Focus Clinic unique?
Focus has created an ideal balance between professionalism and homeliness. This balance has allowed our patients to feel tremendously confident in our skills and abilities, whilst feeling comfortable in their surroundings. Patients always remark on how welcoming and professional the team are and this is what we have over our competitors. Patients have expressed this to me.
They also love the fact that we, unlike some other clinics they may have visited, do not use hard sell techniques.
